Umpteen feelings unexpressed
Fears buried
And desires extinguished
With so much burden to carry
Life is no less a Coolie
Questions are no longer asked
For You would never answer them;
Feelings no more expressed
For You wouldn't reciprocate;
Fears are now hidden
For You lack comfort;
And desires unexpressed
For they are strangled.
If only You weren't lifeless, God,
I would seek help.

- Yesterday is but today's memory, tomorrow is today's dream.
- Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself.
- When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
- Trust in dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
- To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to.
- To be able to look back upon ones life in satisfaction, is to live twice.
- The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply.
- Of life's two chief prizes, beauty and truth, I found the first in a loving heart and the second in a laborer's hand.
- Love possesses not nor will it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.
- Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
- Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.
- Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.
- Knowledge of the self is the mother of all knowledge. So it is incumbent on me to know my self, to know it completely, to know its minutiae, its characteristics, its subtleties, and its very atoms.
- Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.
Well TD is one such mysterious being who does unconventional things at the most unexpected times :)
Here are a few lines TD typed onto her mobile last Sunday morning. The poem that follows is inspired from a book she read last week, Broken Wings, by the famous Lebanese philosopher of the 19th Century, Kahlil Gibran.
This is her first attempt at writing poems after High school. TD's yet to think of a title for the poem...suggestions if any are welcome :)
Show me light
For I seem so lost;
Lift my spirits
For I feel so low;
Give me strength
For I feel so meek;
Find me peace
For it runs from me;
This hurting heart bleeds tears
For it knows not what it longs.
I seek answers from Outside
And Within
Oh dear Mind, Heart and Soul... Unite
Unite, so you may see Light, feel High, be Strong, find Peace
And unravel the secrets of Love and Life.
Only past week I started wondering how would it be going to the movies alone.
In the 22 years spent in Bhilai I'd have been to a cinema hall for not more than 5 times (2 of those times with parents :D), and in last less than a year's time would have been to the movies some 22 times...with either friends @ IBM, team mates, college mates, room mates, school mates, friends of friends, ... and then a thought struck me.. let's see how different an experience would it be going alone.
Didn't quite make much of a difference
There was this "IBM townhall meeting" at Le Meridian and man! was it amazing or what... I had only heard of IBM's grandeur all these months and about how they surprise the employees during various such events.
I went there with my team, expecting a boring presentation on FY '07
annual report and ofcourse for good food! But I must say there was more
to it.. there was this cricket mimic artist, Vikram Sathe, who if you
remember had shot
to fame during xtraa innings... though you, just like all other viewers,
are
not to blame (if you can't place the name well) for it was Ms Bedi who
had outright stolen the show! I
must confess I haven't laughed as loud and wild as I did last night...
seriously, laughed my lungs kidneys heart everything out! :D He
mimicked almost everyone you'd have ever wanted to be aped right from
the master blaster sachin to gavaskar and shrikant, not to miss the
angry young man, shreesant and the yester years' Wall of Indian team,
Dravid. He even did a wonderful mimic of Indian politicians...and couple of bollywood stars!
All in all, not for more than 5 seconds at a stretch would I have not laughed in those 40 odd minutes of his stage presence !
Then there was Leslie Lewis playing re-mixes and couple of his own
songs, with a female co-singer singing equally (if not more)
melodiously. Only thing I'd have asked for was either lower decibel
levels or a larger auditorium... I thought the artists were drumming
right on my ear drums!
But it was so much fun, and I so wanted to record everything that since
I didn't carry any recording device, I simply called up people and let them hear the show from the phone... only to be told later on that it all sounded like a radio show !
For the fans of Apple Inc., and the worshippers of Jobs... here's a good read from Sunday times
If Ignorance is bliss... why are we striving harder and harder to climb the ladder of intellect?
Why do we go to school? Oh thats not enough, we move on to high school, then to the college to graduate and oh my! this aint enough either... masters is a must these days, is what everyone around would tell you.
What are we becoming by attending schools.. by attaching degrees to our names.. by wearing business suits and carrying laptops... Are these signs of a true intellectual?
Most of us are engineers, but how many of us are thorough with our basics?
Many of us are businessmen/business women... how often are we applying the 'biz concepts' from Kotler?
Is what we read what we need? And is it the need that is provoking us to read what we read? Or is it just for the degree that we read, and the money what we need...??
I'm reminded of the words...' we don' need no education... ' Not that I profess we dont need education, but I strongly believe that we educate ourselves of what we really need, of what is really adding value, of what is really applicable.
Inside our mother's womb, protected we were, ignorant we were... we knew not, what was outside...and happy we were. The moment we came out, we saw everything around and how did we react.... Oh did you say "CRY"
Hmm...so there began the story of our distress..of us bein forced to learn, and then our own quest to learn and slowly the urge to attain labels (which we better know as degrees).....
